Knock, knock...anyone there?

Whew! I can not believe it has been 8 months since my last post. Time flies incredibly fast these days. So much has happened - good and bad in the last 8 months.
I still have my etsy shop stocked with many precuts and A LOT of destash. I have so much more to list. I am slowly sorting through my fabric. I know there is some I will never use and I need to reduce...just to fit in my space.

To make matters more complicated, I have picked up cross stitching again.
I learned in 7th grade - so just last year, LOL just kidding.
It's been about 30 years ago.
I found that I saved my first project and some that I had never finished.
Fast forward to today....yes I have the cross stitch bug right now.
I am cross stitching like it's my job ;) (#pcstitching)

This month there is a stitch a long for Jolly July.
Each day you start a new cross stitch ornament. It can be Christmas, Holiday, Halloween or whatever ornament you'd like. The goal is to start and finish as many as you can or want and have a head start on Holiday making. I have started 12 in 15 days. I took a couple of days off.

I have finished stitching 4 of those.
I have not made them into ornaments yet. I am enjoying the stitching and getting side tracked with new patterns after I see what everyone else stitches and what their color choices were.

There is a ton of inspiration on Instagram #FQSjollyjuly

  Here are my first starts.
I am EXTREMELY fortunate to have a HUGE local needlework shop within a 15 min drive from my house. Many do not have that luxury.

Jingle from Christmas Cheer by Heart in Hand.

I have included links to different cross stitching sellers. I have no affiliation with them. I just want readers to find the pattern if they are interested. :)
oh and yes I am still sewing and quilting. I have more to share on that.
If you follow my Instagram VickieSpunsugarquilts
you can see more up to date pictures of my adventures.
So possibly more tomorrow if I have time.
Thanks for reading,

2018 touching base

2018 is nearly done... and I am trying to figure out where the last 12 months went? What a busy year it has been. I virtually stopped blogging and posted only on Instagram this year.
I am going to try to pop on here a bit more in 2019.
That's Squeak she loved the Christmas tree this year.

If you haven't been following along on Instagram, I have still been making and creating.
This is a recent make: A pincushion from the new book by Carrie Nelson Pin Pals.

All the making this year has inspired me to stick around the quilting world and continue to create.
My patterns are available in the links here on my blog.
Some for free and some for sale on etsy and craftsy.
Speaking of etsy and craftsy, craftsy has decided to revamp it's pattern site.
My patterns or most of them will stay but for now they are available on etsy
They are all 25% off this week plus a bunch of other soft, lovely fabrics - no coupon needed.

Table runner Bliss Sew Along - Liberty

Tablerunner Bliss is by Sherri Falls of This and That Pattern Company and features 20 gorgeous tablerunners for a stylish home. Every time you gather around the table with your friends and family, treat each occasion with a stylish tablerunner!

The Fat Quarter shop quilt along features 20 tablerunners in the Tablerunner Bliss Book broken down into 10 weeks, 2 table runners per week.
I chose the Liberty table runner.

Using Minick and Simpson Cottonworks woven prints from Moda,
I twisted Sherri's original idea and turned it into a primitive style patriotic table runner.

To keep with the theme, I used Valdani size 12 pearl cotton for big stitch quilting.

I did modify the pattern a little bit and take off the outer border so it would fit on my table.
That is what is great about Sherri's patterns, change the fabric, change the whole look. Plus you can modify some of the projects to fit your home décor and still end up with a fabulous table runner.

If you are just jumping in to the Table Runner Bliss quilt along, here is the list of bloggers participating.

Bella Skill builder block 9 Lazy Angle!

It's month 9 of the Bella Skill Builder block sew along with the Fat Quarter Shop!
The last month of making blocks and we'll be on to sewing the quilt top together.
I will tell you, I was pleasantly surprised how well these blocks went together.

The Lazy Angle blocks look intimidating for sure.
The Lazy Angle ruler by Creative Grids makes cutting the pieces a snap.
And the pieces matched up perfectly for me.

As with other months, the Fat Quarter Shop has done a video demonstrating
how to use the Lazy Angle.

Since I am closing my etsy shop and orders have been trickling in steadily...
sewing has been minimum.
So I am finishing these blocks kind of late in the evening and didn't get a picture of all the completed blocks for you.

You'll have to wait until I sew the top together to see how they fit in ;)
